Good news for my fellow Australians on this most solemn of days: fabric.com have finally got their act together with regards to international shipping prices. It was the only place I could find any of this, my new favourite fabric,
that I baulk at paying $24 a metre for from Stitch and Knit. I bought half a metre, because it really is that nice, and fabric.com only had 3 yards left, so I can't be the only person who feels that way. In the past, they would only fit 4 1/2 yards into a flat rate ($16ish) envelope, and then it shot way up, into the $50-60 mark to get the 9 yards that fabric shack would send for $8.
Tonight I decided I would try for 5 yards, and that worked! $16.95 postage. So I tried 7 1/2. And that worked too! I upped it to 10 yards before stopping, and even though it went up a little ($22 postage) I typed "fabric.com coupon" into google and it came up with BRTH11A, which got me 15% off my $70 of fabric.
Granted, there wasn't one of their super specials on like last time I bought a massive box from them, but still, even with postage, that makes them all about $8 a yard.
And after that interlude, it's back to quilting. I want this one finished by the time everyone gets up at 4.30 so we can head down to the Pt Mac dawn service. That's one of the good things about staying up all night - not having to get up early in the morning.

Not mentioned in this post: the fact that I have the hiccups.
Tonight I was going to
finish work, go to the gym for my usual 42 minutes, come home and have
an early night. There's a protest to attend tomorrow, and it starts at
noon. NOON! I'm usually just doing the last of my sleeping then, so that
means an alarm, and going "ergh" and arguing with myself that Chinese investors can have the damn forest, I wanna sleep in,
and eventually getting up in time to get a terrible park, miss the first
10 minutes and not have anything for lunch, since I have to be at work a
half hour after it's scheduled to finish. But I suspect it will run over time. Such things usually do.
Alas, it was not to be. Meagan and I spent an hour and a half at maccas, it still took
me 42 minutes to watch an episode of Buffy at the gym, and my plan to
write a list of things that need doing in the next two days got
sidelines when I started, um, actually doing them.
So I'm torn over whether it's a good thing or a bad thing.
I
didn't really get much of anything done though; a vague shuffling
around of the mess in my room revealed a black lace top that I bought at
kmart about a year ago for $6 but never wore - it had a fairly high
neckline and long sleeves, but they're gone now.
I
think I prefer deconstructing clothes to the actual
making-them-from-scratch thing, probably mainly because that involves
tricky seams, and an always-surprisingly-large amount of fabric. This I
did most of the chopping in the bathroom, cause that's where the mirror
is, and I just folded it over and sewed it down at the edges. It's the
top half of what I'll be wearing Saturday night - the bottom half is
still yet to be decided.
And no, the room's not really any cleaner.

I'll sleep when I'm... finished sewing. Maybe.
Tonight, instead of lying awake in bed unable to sleep, doing nothing, I figured I wouldn't bother trying to go bed early and stop those four hours being wasted. I had the fat quarters I got on the cheap yesterday (I went with the blue one because it didn't quite fit with the others) something similar, old and cheap that I've had for years to use as a lining and, after about 45 minutes of searching, some zipper and ribbon for the handles.
I hadn't really considered before how big of a bag I could get from a fat quarter. By no means is this a big bag... It's the same height (12cm) as a coke can. But it's over 30cm long and about 15 cm wide, which makes it fit, pretty much exactly, a pair of sneakers, yoga pants, a t-shirt, light jumper and a microfibre towel (if you go to a gym and don't have one of these, go onto the internet and find one. It's a full size towel, that scrunched down would probably fit in that coke can)
I wanted to try an even lazier way of doing the handles so these are ones that go parallel with the zipper, instead of attaching vertically on the large sides.
It's not quite as natural-feeling to hold, but I think next time I might compromise and sew the ribbon into the seams on the big sides instead, and have them come up at a diagonal. It's certainly easier than cutting and resewing a whole new seam just to piece the straps in.

This is a post about nothing much, really.
Well I've been back at work for two days now. I think I'd like to go on holidays again. I was just getting in the swing of starting to sew in the late afternoon, instead of waiting till midnight and only getting a couple of hours in before stopping for the night. Also, this whole "having to be up at a certain time" think isn't something I'm cool with.
But it was lovely to see everyone again, and it was good to be coming in at a time without any managers being present at all, because I don't really like a lot of them. And now I'm going to try going to bed at a reasonable hour. It won't work, I'll just lie awake and waste the next few hours, but that's to be expected. And tomorrow I will buy some more velcro, because I still can't find mine. It's annoying - that was the expensive stuff.

Ow.
I am home. Safe and sound. And sore. Really, really sore.
Long car drives, sleeping (or lack thereof) in a swag, shooting a double barreled shotgun with full cartridges, jogging around a lake, climbing a mountain and getting attacked by a tree all add up. The laughing and the dancing and the alcohol were all contributing factors too.
So we went to the Tim Fisher Memorial Shoot in Patchewollock yesterday. Really really lovely day, but the big spring rains aren't due to hit till the day after next, so alas, there weren't many flowers to be woven into crowns. Instead I sat and chatted and ate honey crackles and chicken twisties, and after the actual shoot was finished, they asked Me, Case and a couple of the other girls if we'd like a go. Since I'm quite disappointed that I continue to not be an action hero, I was a bit stoked. I shot one clay which I was quite proud of, and apparently with smaller cartridges I'd be a lot better because there wont be so much kick. Casey got five (we had about a dozen goes) but she's got the bulk to handle the big cartridges. We both have slightly munted right arms today, and oddly, I find the back of my shoulder hurts more than the front. Casey wants to join the local gun club right away, but I've noticed that ebay doesn't sell guns, and that could hold me back a bit. I've never seen any at the Salvos either.
Seriously though, it was much fun, and any sport that involves a gentle stroll back and forth is one I could get to like. Also, you get to shoot things. And they all have these jackets with a quilted shoulder where the gun goes, and I really like the idea of quilting my own.
We went to the Patchy pub on the way home, got takeaway and some takeaway alcohol and went back to Jan and Dal's. One of the neighbours, his brother and his brother's girlfriend from England came over to visit, and Case and I had a ball weirding them out with our singing and dancing antics. Then it was sleepytimes, or at least, sleeptyimes for everyone but me, for whom it was lay around and listen to everyone snoring really really loudly times. At one point, the three of them synchronised so one of them was crescendoing at all times - I was quite impressed.
When I woke up this morning I asked the girls how the hell they had slept through Brad's snoring. Brad claimed he wasn't snoring, and before I'd had a chance to tell him that he most definitely was, he said "that's not snoring, that's a mating call"
Um, no thanks.
Saturday night one of the girls at the Rainbow pub mentioned that she'd been geocaching that afternoon. It's a thing where people hide things and post the coordinates on the internet so people with GPSs can go find them, and leave behind something of their own. I'd heard of it but figured there wouldn't really be much in the middle of nowhere places we go to, but Casey and Jess got really excited about the idea - they even got cross that I had, quote, "kept it a secret from them." Turns out there's millions of the things, everywhere, including one just 500m from my house. Usually it's little tupperware containers with little trinkets and a notebook in them so you can write in that you found it, what you took and what you left.
To make up for it I downloaded the $9.39 geocaching app for my phone and we went looking. We went to Lake Abacutya, which is mostly dried up - we drove across it and found, in the middle, a small hollow, maybe 30m in diametre, full of water, so I jogged around it. When I tell people tomorrow that I jogged around the lake they will assume I mean all 8km of the Blue Lake, and be very impressed. We got back in the car and kept driving, coming up the boat ramp on the other side. We went to the site of Peppers Point School and didn't find anything, gave up and went to Lake Hindmarsh (which is very, very full) and found one! I left behind one of Helen's crochered oreos, so it's out in the world now.
We went to the Arapiles, some big-arse rock mountains near Horsham. One of the problems with geocaching is that it just gives you a location, and while the app is nice enough to show it on a map, it doesn't tell you the route. We started at the campsite, walked/climbed 500 of the 700m before we ran out of track, came to a sheer cliff face, I got attacked by a tree, my phone reached 5% battery and we decided to go back down, only to find, upon leaving the national park, that there was a road to the summit on the other side. We drove to the top, climbed the last 50m to the hiding spot and found our cache. I left behind a little torch and took a US 1c coin.
We stopped at three more that were on the side of the road on the way home. The app tells you the nearest ones and location can be down to the metre in some cases. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to waste an afternoon with some friends.
We will be tomorrow. We're going to cheap as chips first to stock up on some party favours to leave behind.
And I'm gunna take the quilt. It's been washed, so I'll be looking for a nice photogenic spot to make it look especially pretty.

Losing it.
Mum has decided we will get these carpets properly cleaned before we put the furniture back in, so yet again I'm without a bed. Well, that's a lie, I'm sharing Maddy's bed with Casey, and she snores like a freight train. Or sometimes like a chainsaw. One time it was like a motorbike. But you get the idea. Last night, to combat it, I stayed up till about 4am safe in the knowledge that I would be so tired I would fall asleep in spite of the noise, and I could sleep in once she'd gone to work at 7. But tomorrow I start work at 12, which is late by anyone's standards, except of course mine. Or those of the nightfill boys. Some might say the nightfill boys have no standards, and they wouldn't be too far wrong.
Because I'm working all afternoon and most of the evening tomorrow, I just have to hope that some nice parent or sibling puts my bed back while I am at work. I'm losing it without my bed.

Whoops.
I've no idea how long it took cause I fell asleep while it was doing it, but my computer is up to date. I should have learned by now that 2.30 am is not the time to decide to do software updates, but it's the only time I get the urge. Then I give up keeping an eye on them and go to sleep :/

Mornings.
I am sooo not a morning person. I wish I was, because I do like dawn, and I think it can be a magical time of day, when noone's awake and there's interesting light and time moves a bit weirdly. But really, I'm only ever up at that time of the morning when something interesting is going on, like I'm going on holiday, and it's much more likely and also much worse that I should have to be up at a mundane hour of the morning like 8 or 9am.
This happened today. My hatred of mornings is well known by my colleagues, and because of it I'm never rostered before lunchtime, but we've agreed that if they've called everyone else, and I'm their last option, I will say yes. And there's a bit of a bug going around Woolies at the moment, and I got called. They were kind enough to call at 8, and since I was meant to be working my usual shift of 2.30 till 10.30, I tried to haggle an 11am start, since that would mean that whichever schoolkid worked till close could do 7 till 10.30 and then they wouldn't need a teabreak* but it's hard to haggle at 8am when you're still pretty much asleep, which is why I had to start at 10.
It was horrible. Really really horrible. I'm very happy with my bodyclock, for all that everybody else thinks it's whacked, and I really don't know how everybody else does it. My parent's have been informed that if anybody calls for me tomorrow morning, I'm dead, and will continue to be dead until 2.30, when I'll be at work. That should suffice. Any more than one morning a week would probably kill me.
*Which may seem mean, but it's very annoying to have to give someone a teabreak at 8.30 when there's only one other checkout chick, so they try to roster 3.5 hour shifts at night.

Ow.
It's been nearly six month's since I've had a migraine. Well, it had been.
In the months before christmas last year I was getting them about once a fortnight. They'd wake me in the middle of the night, hurt like hell, keep me awake, make me sick, then after three or four hours of tossing and turning I'd fall asleep and wake up feeling crappy, but thankful it had gone. Only ever in one quarter of my head, the front left. Tried migraine tablets and sinus headache tablets and tension headache tablets but it didn't really work. And it was irregular, and in the middle of the night, and I need a new doctor (still) and it just seemed like a hassle over something that affected approximately 1.2% of my time.
Today though of course one decided to strike at 8am, 3 hours before I had to go to work. On a supervising Sunday shift. Where it's pretty much gunna take keeling over and dying to get you a replacement. I wasn't quite at that point (though really, it would have felt like an improvement) but on the kona colour chart, I would have at least been at Natural if not Snow. If I was at White it would have hurt my eyes to look at myself in the mirror. Although none of my co-workers would have got that, I was pale enough to get some sympathy. Not enough to get me a replacement, but some. Except from one of the ones who'd had a big night on the town last night, but she sooo didn't get any sympathy from me. I was too busy in my rut last night to get my drink on and anyway, that's not till next Saturday. Could it be that my hangover has come a week early? That would be clever, though if I get one next Sunday, I will be writing a letter of complaint.
I'm feeling better now, well, so long as I don't let my head go below my shoulders. I'm thinking I might nick some cushions form the couch, pop on The Thomas Crown Affair and go to sleep. And yes, it is only 9pm. Maybe I'm not feeling that much better. I'm not even usually getting started at 9pm.

Distractions.
It's 4am, but I'm not tired. I am cold though, and going to bed would solve that problem (hooray for electric blankets!) but then instead of sitting up doing stuff on the computer I'd be laying in bed doing stuff on the computer, and that's way less efficient, and usually ends with me trawling silly websites that have lists of the 50 biggest photoshop fails or movie characters you wont believe were inspired by real people.
I doubt I would fall asleep though, even though that's what I should be doing. The 'rents are off on their cruise tomorrow, and I should be in bed ready to wake up at a reasonable hour (mum has requested 10am, and given the fact that they usually leave at 5am, this does seem quite reasonable*) but Mum asked me to get Maddy some movies to take (yeah, the 8 year old gets to go. It's not fair.) so I've been doing that, as well as watching the episode of Chuck I didn't get around to last night and doing the mug for Meagan's boyf (the trucker, who's getting one with a picture of his truck and the words "she thinks my Kenworth's sexy (it really turns her on)"
Again, bogan humour. The actual song is she thinks my tractor's sexy, and we've already ordered some of those too. All I have to say is that it's a good thing that Vistaprint ends it's specials and then puts everything on sale in a different configuration a day later. This mug will cost about $10, but then, I'm only getting one. I earned my bulk discounts last time, getting approximately twenty.
One website that doesn't seem to understand bulk discounts is fabric.com which insists it can only fit four yards in a flat rate envelope, and that if I want five, postage will be $48. Hint hint to any Americans - you'd do well to set up a parcel forwarding company solely dealing with foreigners who think that that's a rip off, ie: all of us.
The strange thing is though, the fabric I'm looking at, at $4.50 a yard, still comes out to half the price of buying it locally, even with a maximum four yard limit and a $16 postage slug. Economics is a weird, wonderful little thing, until it incites this kind of indecision. Yes I want it, yes I technically have a project lined up and yes, the price is good, but that's an awful waste of space in a prepaid satchel. And as a pretty much scrap-less quilter, I'm not one for waste. Especially with Rego being due next week and acting like a big black hole in my pay check.
I just have to keep telling myself no. And hope I get a good package of something-or-the-other in the mail tomorrow to distract me.
*though on the other hand, it would be easier to just stay up another hour and see them off. That said, dad still isn't home from wherever he went out drinking tonight, so I have my suspicions that I'll be leaving for work in the afternoon right about when they're leaving for Geelong.

The evening after the night before...
I must confess, I came home last night. I hadn't had anything to drink because I had done about 5 trips into town to get more stuff, and I figured there was bound to be more. And then, later in the night, Steph "Boobs" Vine was feeling a bit sick and considering taking her fiancee's ute and driving it the 40km to her house, leaving him with nowhere to sleep, and the wet grass had soaked through my boots, so at about 11 we decided to head home. She pulled the, I'm not tired, lets watch a movie/falling asleep on the couch before the end of the opening credits routine, and I downloaded and watched a couple of new episodes of Mythbusters. It wasn't a bad party, the band was a bit shit, and it was too cold for us skinny girls later in the night, but everyone seemed to be having fun.
Which leads to: Today.
Since most of my friends are farmers, or grew up on farms, they all wake at ungodly hours of the morning. After passing out at 4am, they will be up and about and ready to continue drinking at 6am. I of course, would struggle to find the motivation to get out of bed at 6am even if I'd had an early night the previous one, so I settled for 8.30am.
It was horrible. There was a screeching alarm and it was cold out and I immediately had an asthma attack. Nature's way of saying I should sleep in, I think. And of course, when we got there, everyone was standing around having a beer and psyching themselves up for the drive home (some people had come 300km, as opposed to 3) so I went and got maccas, and bought out the bitchin' chair and ate Jatz biscuits as some people left and some people got drunk all over again. I'm not gunna begrudge them that. It was a lovely day, and they were mainly drinking their own alcohol, with only a slight fortification of Casey's Bundy cans with my Jamesons. I considered getting my drink on, but I had quilting to do. So I came home, ate a big bowl of Milo with a little bit of icecream, and got stuck in.
Quilting, the process of sewing through the three layers of fabric and batting, is really boring. I am not a quilter, in that I don't "quilt" (by the above description) for fun. Quilting is just a means to an end, a way to convert the pretty pieced tops and backs, which are what I enjoy doing, into a nice snuggly quilt. Maybe if I had a longarm machine, I could turn it into an artform, but sewing from one side to the other, turning it around, and doing it again, just following seam lines and hoping it doesn't bunch up too much, feels a bit like a chore. The fun part for me is keeping a running percentage of how far I've done, but then, I am odd like that, and I also like to count the number of sewing lines I have remaining when I'm assembling too. I guess it makes me feel like I am getting somewhere, even though it looks like I've sewn a million lines, but I still have a billion more to go.
Unfortunately, I realised after 4 pm that I didn't actually have anything to bind it with anyway, so it wasn't gunna get done. But the bloody quilting is out of the way, for that one at least, and now there's only 4 more to quilt* before I've done half my WIPs, and can get to something new.
Still, since the quilting was done I could take it to Helen's and let Bob have a stomp on it, which is the important thing really, and they don't need a binding for that. Then I had an over-tired wonder if the lights were straight (I'm assured they are) and was told to go home, download a show called Wilfred (there's a dog right, who's a man in a dog suit, but he's actually a dog, and everyone thinks he's a dog, and he acts like a dog, but there's this one bloke who knows he's a guy in a dog suit, and talks to him. Seems a bit odd, but Helen assures me it's brilliant) and have an early night. It's downloading, ETA lunchtime tomorrow, and, y'know, I may just go to bed.
How weird.
*and bind. 4 more to quilt and bind, and another two after Helen's that just need their binding done, and then I can get on with making some more WsIP.

*yaaawn*
I was making quite good progress. Sure, I stupidly decided that since I was using the Mingle fabric again (this time in the Newsprint colourway), maybe I should add just a little bit of wonk, like I used on the last one, and because it was quite a sudden decision (aren't all of mine? maybe it's something I need to work on) none of you had the chance to remind me that it was a terrible idea. Last time the big problem was matching the points, but I came up with a design that completely avoided wonky points, so this time, it's instead been the changing sizes of the blocks as I sew diagonals. I had to trim, which is something I really hate doing, because there's such a stupid huge amount of waste, both of fabric* and time.
It will be almost a wonky version of the big block disappearing nine patch, but without the nine patch, or the disappearance. So that makes no sense, until you see it. Which unfortunately wont be till tomorrow, because I'm also watching Time Team as I sew, and someone mentioned a nice warm bed. So now I'm sleepy, and even though there's only an hour or so of work to go, I'm bowing out. My electric blanket is calling me.
*tonight's trimming - 1700 square centimetres, which is a bit bigger than a square 40cm each side - nearly a fat quarter of it's own)

Written 2 hours ago...
I've been considering pulling an all nighter to see if I can get myself so tired that I fall asleep at a reasonable hour tomorrow night. But, unfortunately, I've run out of stuff that can be done in front of the machine (piecing and binding both need the cutter and the iron, which are out in the lounge) so I've pretty much lost all motivation. I bound the tiny quilt of leftover bits earlier in the night (very badly) and I just quilted the bue and green wonky quilt (quite well), and now my possible to-dos include binding the double wonky quilt, and piecing a back for the purple and green quilt. But, in the kitchen. Where it's 3 degrees colder, possibly because my computer is running hot enough to warm my bedroom right now.
My internet has dropped out for no apparent reason. I've rebooted the router, and my laptop, and now I'm doing the turn off the router for half an hour and hope it miraculously works when you turn it back on. It's worked in the past, but I'm worried that I may have used up all my mad computer fixing skills today at work, where I managed to get the big moneys out of the registers that couldnt be turned on. I had the actual tech guy there at the time, but I did all the metaphorical heavy lifting, while he held the trays in the air. That shit is literally heavy, y'all. Coins and stuff.
Any time shit is *something* in my world, it needs to be followed up with a y'all. I dont know why.
But anyway, my internet isn't working. And that's a good excuse for me to not go to bed, because I like to check everything last thing before bed. But on the other hand, I like to break up my sewing with internets, and I think a good bout of internets right now would let me get back into the sewing again. That's why I'm typing this even though there is no internet, in the hope that the internet is back by the time I'm done. And if the internet doesn't come back tonight, then I'll have to save this to post in the morning, and go to bed.
*Sigh*
Shit's complicated, y'all.

Internet came back up, I got distracted by fabric shopping. It happens. My plans have now changed to "do I watch DVDs all night?" or "do I go to bed?"

Deep breaths now, come on...
I think I'm gunna fall asleep. I got 2 hours last night, and work was stupidly, ridiculously busy, and I stayed back for an hour, and then Mum and Nan were in shopping, so I was wandering around with them, then I had to go to Spotlight, to get some more of the blue spotty fabric and a long bit of zip, because I've decided to put a zip at the end of Dad's thing, as the press stud thingies are too expensive and I actually can't stand velcro. Don't know why, it just irritates me. And then Mum wanted me to get her some plastic tablecloth while I was there, but she was a bit vague with what kind so I just got a roll in case it was the wrong stuff so she could take it back, then I went to Nanny's cause it's across the road from netball and I was hoping that Casey's game was nearly finished so Mum would come over and tell me whether or not I had the right stuff so I could take it back, or not, and Nanny gave me a quilting magazine so I read it and then it was 4pm and Mum wasn't there and there was no point me hanging about any more because Spotlight would have been closed (actually now that I think about it it's Saturday so they are open till 5, silly sleepy brain) so I went to KFC because it's the weekend so it's okay and then I came home and ate it and now I'm (still) sleepy.
Yeah.
Um, trying for coherency now, I doubt that dad's quilt will actually be finished, since my brain has too far out of my ear for me to be able to finish a sentence, let alone a quilt. There's probably only 2 hours to go on it (an hour or so to do the second quilting, and another to set the zip in the bottom and sew and oversew around the edges. But it's all a bit much right now. I need sleep.

Progress report...
I told myself I wouldn't post anything until I had at least finished the top, and then when I had finished the top, I figured I'd press on with sorting out the batting, and since this quilt is a) more lofty and b) less clingy than the bamboo I'm used to I decided I'd baste in the ditch before I got the backing sorted, so I could at least turn it over.
So now I'm halfway through doing the backing, only having stopped because I was feeling a little faint from hunger.
Not sure on how or when I'll be doing my actual quilting - tossing up a bit between pulling an all nighter to get the damn thing over and done with and going into spotlight tomorrow and buying basting spray again - I haven't used it since the first quilt, which was wool - bamboo clings so much you hardly need baste.
I basically have one strip of big squares to quilt and iron, then its joining my 2 strips of squares to my big bits and the back is all done. Quilting thus far (basting) has been a bit of a bitch, as this quilt is not only loftier but also larger than the bamboo I usually use, so I'll be struggling down in my slightly cramped bedroom space - The big rainbow quilt was done in the lounge in the wee small hours when I could do furniture shifting and have more space.
I think I'm gunna stop. Well, not just now, but once the back is done and pinned down to it.
Then I will either sleep or make a start on Helen's baby's quilt, which I've cut down to it's big squares (well, rectangles technically, I wanted 22x24 but have had to settle for 21.5x24 because of all the washing machine fraying) and need to do the two slices within it.
Due to a lack of response with regards to design, I've picked number 3 because I liked it and #2 equally, but #3 is a bit easier to do because both the sides are the same colour.
Actually, scratch 3 paragraphs ago. I'm beat, and going to bed. I've got tomorrow.

I'm procrastinating, again...
I was asleep before 2, but still slept in till 11.
*sigh*
But I got my shopping done, spending way too much money here, there and everywhere today. The blue/green quilt is now ready to start, the retro quilt is theoretically good to go, but I'm still not sure on the colours, because I've got 2 pinks, 1 yellow, 1 green, 2 blues and 1 purple, and I'm not sure that it balances out correctly. And I think the bright rainbow quilt is good, but I'm still not sure whether or not I want blue in it - I have one blue in it at the moment, and I have a half metre of a blue with rainbow shapes on it that looks quite nice with it, but I'm feeling indecisive, as usual.
So, no actual work has been done, except for cutting a few more red fats. I bought a rather flat cotton quilt for $10 from kmart, and even though it's only a single, its still about 20cm wider than the bamboo I've been using, so I'm gunna use it for Mama Jan's quilt, because Casey says the bamboo is a bit flat. I say she's been pretty useless about the whole thing, having made no decisions and provided no money towards it, but, if I'm honest, that's pretty much par for the course.
So, I'm thinking I'll probably work on the blue/green quilt next, while I wait for the fabrics for helen's baby to get here...

I need to go to bed...
Lately, I have had a little problem. My body clock has been out of whack since my first expedition into the world of quilting, and I routinely stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning, and sleep in until 11 or 12 noon.
Now, in spite of the fact that this setup would seem fairly ideal for me, I’ve been trying to get my system back closer to everyone else’s time, because society is guilt-tripping me about it. Problem is, I think I’m going about it the wrong way. What I’ve been doing is telling myself each night after work that I’m going to have an early one, that I’ll get up in the morning and do some sewing then, when I’m alert, and fresh, and the sun is shining and all that crap. But then, with the best of intentions, I ebay, I facebook, I blog, I open unnecessary paint documents or I watch old Top Gear/ Psych episodes. And then, before I know it, it’s 3am, and I haven’t achieved anything, and I wont get up till lunchtime and nothing will get done the next day either.
It’s 1am now. I’m not going to do any sewing tonight, or any organizing, or any concept designing, or, well, hopefully, anything at all. I’ve put some of my fabrics in a little ziplock bag to take shopping tomorrow, and that’s it. I have the day off, It’s late night shopping so it doesn’t matter if I accidentally sleep in… But I'm a realist. I probably wont fall asleep for another couple of hours yet, and the cycle will continue.
